Neonworks of Cincinnati is the region’s only full-time neon sign shop! Located right inside of the American Sign Museum building, Neonworks preserves the craft of traditional neon through restoration, custom fabrication, and public education. Guests of the Museum can watch skilled artisans at work through the shop window during Museum hours, Wednesday through Saturday, or catch a neon bending demonstration every Saturday at 11 am and 1 pm.

ORIGINS OF NEONWORKS
Neonworks is the Museum’s in-house neon shop, and its original proprietors Greg Pond and Tom Wartman have more than 70 years of tubebending and neon sign experience between them. The pair joined forces as Neonworks in 1991 when the firm that Pond was working for went bust, and Wartman was looking for new opportunities beyond his second stint with his brother at Strictly Neon.
For nearly 20 years, Neonworks operated out of a facility on the north side of Cincinnati, subcontracting for the trade while also serving the collector market. Museum founder Tod already had a relationship with the shop through his role at Signs of the Times magazine, so he sought out Pond and Wartman’s expertise as his Museum plans began to take shape and gain momentum. Neonworks became so important to the Museum’s activities that it was formally merged into the American Sign Museum in July 2024. The shop windows face the Museum’s Main Street exhibit, allowing visitors to look inside at the team at work, with opportunities to learn even more via the regular program of tubebending demonstrations on Saturdays.
