Mail Pouch Tobacco Barn

2006.0040.0001

The barn was located on south side of and faced State Route 62, two miles west of Lainesville, IN. Scott Hundinger, barn preservation consultant, dates the barn to the late 1880s or 1890s. The barn had not been maintained and was set to be dismantled by the then current owner. The barn is thought to have been last painted by Harley Warrick, the last Mail Pouch painter (deceased), in 1975. The vertical boards were numbered and removed one-by-one; the hayloft door was removed from its hinges intact.
