General Electric Kline Plastic Sign
Object/Artifact
A G.E. (General Electric) Kline plastic sign that is double-faced and internally illuminated. Though not much is known about this sign aside from the fact that it came from Cincinnati, GE’s history dates back to 1892 when Thomas Edison’s Edison General Electric Company in New York merged with Massachusetts’s Thomson-Houstan Electric Company. Though the company manufactured appliances and tvs, as this sign indicates, for several years, GE chose to dissolve their appliance and lighting division in 2014 to better focus on their aviation, power, and renewable energy initiatives.
