Altman Changeable Glass Letter & Metal Sign
Object/Artifact
This is a double-faced, metal sign constructed of pressed and ripple tin from around 1925. It is gilded and painted, and has changeable glass letters behind which incandescent bulbs illuminate and shine through. It was once displayed at John Altman Electric, of Parkersburg, WV.
. The choice of removable letter panels is curious because if these were simply access points to service the lightbulbs, they most likely would have been a simpler design.
