POPS Lightbulb & Metal Lettering Sign
Object/Artifact
Cut-out plywood letters with animated lightbulbs mounted on a steel tubel frame. Sign was fabricated in three sections.
Sign originally hung on the stage behind the symphony at Music Hall. It was often disassembled and re-installed at Riverbend when the symphony played at the summer venue.
Originally from the Cincinnati POPS orchestra and traveled with them for about 25 years before management decided to retire it. Their original plan was to dispose of it, but that created a PR nightmare as their patrons were very attached to the older sign. The orchestra decided to rethink their plan and donate the sign to the museum.
The sign might have been made by the maintenance man. It is crudely made sign made out of plywood and glitter sprinkled on it (although the glitter doesn't really do anything).
