El Rancho Motel Metal & Neon Sign
Object/Artifact
This is a double-faced, sheet metal and neon neon sign from the El Rancho Motel in DeSoto, Kansas. The sign was designed by Dean Weller, the original owner of the motel, in 1951 and in a southwestern style, and cost around $1700 to built. Weller sold the business in 1980. Later, in 2005 when the Museum was able to acquire the sign, it was taken down by United Sign Corp., Kansas City, MO.
