Schenley's Whiskies Wood Punchout Sign
Object/Artifact
Schnley's was a liquor distiller which was headquartered in New York City and founded in the 1920s. Other brands such as Golden Wedding were a part of the larger Schenley's company.
This small sign is a majority red-painted wood. The individual letters that spell SCHENLEY's have "punchouts," or little holes. Into the holes, small green glass beads are inserted allowing light to shine through. It is hand-painted at the bottom to read, "Mark of Merit Whiskies," and, "Schenley Distillers Corporation, New York, NY." It was manufactured by Reflecto Letters Company, assumably based in New York City although little is known about the company.
