Join graphic artist Tom Ickert for a discussion of how he created a larger-than-life sign in the Big Apple.
A native of Mansfield (the “Fun Center of Ohio”), Tom spent his early years devouring coloring books and drawing on any blank sheet of paper he could get his hands on. Throughout his school years he was involved in any art project that would be thrown his way, from posters to school banners to programs and fliers. It only seemed natural that he would pursue a career in Graphic Design and Illustration so he entered a four-year program at Ohio University.
Upon graduation he grabbed his backpack and rode the rails of Europe for 4 and one-half months. Returning stateside he landed a job in Columbus where he remained for one year before making the big leap to New York, where he took up residence for 41 years before moving back to Ohio.
Among clients serviced: Xerox, Newsweek, Scholastic, NBC, Maxell, Finnair and Manhattan restaurants too numerous to mention.
