These sign sketches were created by "Clement" Booth Yonka (deceased) while serving as a designer at the former Lackner Custom Signs -- Service Co., Cincinnati, OH. "Booth" as he was known was recruited by George Lackner in 1946 following World War II. He had been a foreman in a munitions factory in Macon, GA., during the war, moonlighting part-time as a neon tubebender. Yonka had originally begun working with glass, creating "barn animals" out of Pyrex on the carnival circuit.
