Residents of Lakeview, Oregon have come together with a local community group, the Lakeview Community Partnership, in order to revitalize the historic Alger Theater and its neon sign. The sign was relit on March 1st during a community celebration of this historic site. The Alger Theater originally opened in 1940 and served as an important destination for residents of Lakeview, later becoming the only theater in town. In 2014 the Alger Theater was closed due to its inability to adapt to modern digital content. The historic neon marquee sign, which spells “ALGER,” has been fully restored.
