Floating Billboards Banned
New York, New York

Over the past year NY residents have been at odds with a new spectacle on the waterfront. LED billboards 60-foot-wide and 20-foot-high have started appearing on barges around the city prompting a number of complaints. Some residents believe that the floating billboards are an eyesore, while others worry that they might distract drivers and potentially cause an accident. That led to Gov. Andrew Cuomo signing a new bill prohibiting the floating billboards from NY waterways. Those who violate the new law will initially be fined $1000 and then an additional $5000 for future offenses.
