Western Neon traces its roots back to Dean Blazek and the Northern Wisconsin Neon Workshop, which opened in 1956. Dean and his sons moved to Seattle and opened up Western Neon as a gallery. Word of their expertise grew, however, and the company has quickly become a major player in sign restoration and custom installations, both of which are experiencing a boom in Seattle. Now, the company has opened Western Neon School of Art, a not-for-profit trade and art school. Winter quarter classes filled up within 48 hours, and all spring classes are full.
