Avenue Theater
San Francisco, CA

The Portola district of San Francisco is shining brighter, now that the Avenue Theater marquee and blade sign have been restored and relit. It’s been five years in the making, with the actual work requiring five months and $300,000. The project required researching the original colors, and replacing all the wiring and glass – including getting the animation right. The theater itself remains in extreme disrepair. It is hoped that restoring the sign will encourage someone to step forward to take on restoration or redesign of the building, hopefully as a venue for the arts.
