Six panels: (2) 30 x 79 1/2 in.; (1) 30 x 59 1/2 in.; (1) 30 x 69 1/2 in.; and (2) 30 x 90 in. Panels are blue and yellow porcelain but have been painted over in brown and white. Text reads, “J.C. Penney Incorporated.”
Letter in file is dated “November 11, 1985,” acknowledging phone call from Rich Aurelius and interest in obtaining sign. Exact date of delivery of sign is unknown, but it was sometime in December (see note in file to Jerry Swormstedt). Contacted donor in 1999 after much research and found that the sign came from Georgetown, KY. Store was closed when Walmart came to town; another tenant leased the property so sign had to come down. Donor no longer involved in the sign business (see notes in file).
Good: Some scratches on surface, porcelain chipped and one corner is badly rusted, needs cleaning.
