Decade : 1940 - 1949
Object History :

Donated to the Museum from Sign Company in San Bernadino, CA, who acquired the truck in 1966. The truck’s life before that is unknown. At that time it had the faded original paint and had been in storage for many years. The Company restored the truck, disassembling every part, sandblasting seam cleaning and painting every part, reupholstered interior and refurbished the bed. When the donation time came, the donor located an original c. 1949 manually-operated 40′ Garland sign crane in a junk yard in Sacramento. They disassembled it, fully restored to original condition and mounted to the truck.
