Object History
:
Possibly the only one of its kind, this Subway sign features a porcelain face with neon lettering. The design is more of a call back to signage of the 1930s rather than a match to the more modern look the sandwich chain had in the 1970s. It could be that the franchise owner wanted the sign to better match the turn-of-the-century architecture common to the Clifton Heights area from where the sign was acquired.
